Introduction to the Higher Education Partnership
The purpose of the Higher Education Partnership is to
capitalize on the synergy that develops through collaboration
and partnership between and among the colleges and universities
and school districts.
The work of the Higher Education Partnership is broad and varied. It includes, but is not limited to facilitation and implementation of innovative teacher supply programs between the higher education institutions and the Kansas City, Missouri School District, support of district staff in professional development activities for teachers, facilitation of the expansion of coursework for high school students through dual credit opportunities with higher education institutions, assistance with the district preparation for the accreditation review, evaluation of programs as requested by the superintendent and assistance with the development of a district-wide program evaluation plan.
The Higher Education Partnership currently includes thirteen member institutions including two universities from the University of Missouri system, five regional universities, the Metropolitan Community Colleges system, and four private institutions of higher education.
The current financial support for the HEP comes through contributions from the Kansas City, Missouri School District, the higher education institutions, and grants.
It is the hope that through the HEP we'll serve the Kansas City, Missouri School District and other districts. We strive to find the balance between using the great potential in collaboration while protecting and celebrating the uniqueness and needs of each school and higher education institution.
